Natural Acne Treatments

It’s important to remember that what goes in has to come out. The toxins and impurities consumed in foods and drinking water in addition to whatever is in the air enter the body. After these poisons have wreaked havoc, they have to come out in one of five ways: through phlegm coughed up or blown out the nose, waste products, sweat, rashes, breakouts and headaches.

Also, the hair follicles contain oil in order to moisturize the skin. These overproduce oils sometimes, clogging pores and producing pimples. So the equation becomes clearing up the cause of the problem in addition to treating the symptom. One useful category of natural acne treatments are herbs, which often do several things in addition to their main job. Echinacea and Goldenseal, to use an example, are both antimicrobial as well as supporting the immune system.  Echinacea and Goldenseal can be bought in capsule form at any health food store.

Aloe, when ingested, is a body cleanser. When used topically, it is astringent and has great healing power.  Aloe is sold everywhere, both in gel form and liquid form for ingestion.

Tea Tree Oil has amazing properties and has been known to heal headaches, cold and flu symptoms, is a magnificent addition to shampoo and can heal acne. Tea Tree Oil has to be diluted before application to the skin.  In addition, Jojoba oil is an excellent natural acne remedy because it controls the oils in the pores.   Jojoba Oil and Tea Tree Oil can be found in most drugstores or health food stores.

Topical Acne Solutions

Topical solutions to the problem are many and varied and include oatmeal paste, honey and cinnamon, lemon juice and tea leaves made into a paste. Astringents all and possibly anti-inflammatory, their effects could be used both on the surface as well as ingested. Witch hazel, lavender and rosewater all are recommended for topical use.

Diet and Acne

Studies have been confused for years regarding the effects of foods on acne. Over the years, it has been found that a diet including fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to fish and fowl are conducive to good health and wellness. Following a cleansing regime with topical applications plus a purer diet will net the acne sufferer a clean body inside and out. Exercise enters the picture, too, because a good workout means oxygenated blood working with the muscles makes the extra energy cause the skin to glow. Not a bad way to get what goes in to come out.
